Dr Virginia Hackenberg opened her Gynecology practice in Leesburg in 1990.
Raised in Princeton, NJ, she completed her undergraduate degree at Duke university, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Biochemistry. She was then accepted to the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, with a full scholarship from the Air Force Health Profession Scholarship Program. She graduated from medical school in 1983. She remained at Emory for her OB/GYN residency, where she underwent a wide range of surgical and obstetrical training at both Grady Memorial Hospital as well as Emory University Hospital.
Once Dr. Hackenberg finished her residency in 1987, she became an active duty Air Force officer working as a staff OB/GYN at Nellis AFB hospital in Nevada. For her time serving the active duty members and their families, she was awarded the Achievement Medal for meritorious service.
Board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Hackenberg decided to specialize in women’s health and gynecologic surgery when she moved to Loudoun county. She performs a wide variety of gynecological procedures and has an interest in menopause management, becoming a certified Menopause Practitioner through the North American Menopause Society. In addition to helping patients with conditions such as infertility, endometriosis, premenstrual syndrome and abnormal uterine bleeding, she promotes wellness and cancer risk reduction through nutritional and exercise counseling.
Dr. Hackenberg is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is presently serving on the INOVA Loudoun Hospital Board as well as the Loudoun Medical Group Board of Directors.
Dr. Hackenberg lives in Loudoun county with her husband, an anesthesiologist at INOVA Loudoun hospital. They have 2 children. She enjoys playing tennis, hiking, biking, cooking and reading.
